Privacy Policy

We take the issue of your privacy very seriously and as such our Privacy Policy incorporates the provisions of Part 1 of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Statutes of Canada 2000, Chapter 5, as amended) herinafter PIPEDA, and includes the ten principles of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information (CAN/CSA-Q830-96) which was published in March 1996 as a National Standard of Canada).  Our Privacy Policy was originally published in 2005 and will be reviewed and updated regularly to reflect changes in the legislation referred to above.

Principle 1 – Accountability

Principle 2 - Identifying Purposes for Collection of Personal Information

PowerBandits.com collects certain information related to users who visit the site for several reasons and identifies the purpose of collecting this information as follows:

From users who visit our site to read or download information on our pages we collect and store only the following information:

  1. The domain name through which you gained access to our Web site;
  2. The precise time and date that you entered our web site;
  3. The URL of the web page through which you linked to our web site.
From users who send us e-mail containing personal information or identifies you, any information that we collect is used only for purposes of responding to you and addressing the issues that you may have raised.

From users who place an order with us, any information collected for this purpose is solely used to fulfill the order.

Any information that we collect is collected as part of our business practices in order to identify demographic information related to users who access our site, assessing the number and type of user accessing various sections of our site, helping us determine what content and business concepts are working for us and/or are of interest to our visitors, determining technical design features and specifications and helping us assess systems performance.  We also use such information in statistical form to assist us in business and marketing strategies and programs.  We utilize software programs to create summary statistics which we utilize for the above purposes.

PowerBandits.com will not use this information for any new reasons unless an individual has given us their written consent.

In exceptional circumstances, such as when required by law, PowerBandits.com will share a user’s personal information without the individual’s consent.

PowerBandits.com will never sell or otherwise provide access to such information to unaffiliated third parties.

Principle 3 - Obtaining Consent for Collection, Use or Disclosure of Personal Information

PowerBandits.com only collects information with your consent.

By using the website you are therefore abiding by the “Terms of Use” which state that you have given PowerBandits.com permission to collect some information relevant to the purpose it is used for as such:

By placing an order with PowerBandits.com you are giving consent to use your information for fulfilling your order.

By opting-in to the newsletter you have given PowerBandits.com consent to send you our quarterly newsletter.

You can refuse or withdraw your consent by not using the website and/or opting-out of the newsletter.

Principle 4 - Limiting Collection of Personal Information

PowerBandits.com only collects limited information in a lawful manner necessary for the purposes noted in Principle 2.

Principle 5 - Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention of Personal Information

PowerBandits.com shall not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.

As such, PowerBandits.com will destroy, erase or make anonymous personal information that is no longer needed for its identified purposes or for legal requirements and obtain consent for any new purpose of collection, use or disclosure.

Principle 6 – Accuracy of Personal Information

PowerBandits.com will ensure that all personal information shall be as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used.

As such, PowerBandits.com will update personal information only if it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected, make reasonable efforts to keep personal information used on an ongoing basis accurate and up-to-date, and provide third parties with information that is as accurate and up-to-date as possible and clearly indicate the limits of its accuracy.

Principle 7 – Security Safeguards

PowerBandits.com will follow safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information collected to ensure that personal information is protected.

Principle 8 – Openness Concerning Policies and Practices

PowerBandits.com will be open with its policies and practices related to the management of personal information.

As such, PowerBandits.com provides a publicly posted privacy policy on its website which names the person responsible of implementing this policy and a way to contact them, a description of how individuals can gain access to their personal information, a description of the type of information collected and what it is used for, and a statement of who has access to this information.

Principle 9 - Customer and Employee Access to Personal Information

PowerBandits.com shall inform a customer or employee of the existence, use, and disclosure of his or her personal information upon request and shall give the individual access to that information.  A customer or employee shall be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.

Principle 10 - Challenging Compliance

PowerBandits.com will make it’s privacy polices public and accessible via posting them on the PowerBandits website and an individual is able to make a challenge concerning compliance of the policies by contacting the “Manager” at  info@powerbandits.com
