What kind of products do you offer?

PowerBandits offers products that were specifically chosen to help people have better control over their lives. A lot of our products are made by small businesses or entrepreneurs and, as such, provide an alternative to mainstream offerings.

Why are you selling these products?

PowerBandits believes that everyone wants more power and control in their lives and that they have the right to be fully empowered. The products that we sell and the services that we provide are directly aimed at supporting people with this task.

What are you giving back to the community?

PowerBandits believes that personal power is linked to the wider community and as such we not only focus on helping individuals, but we also focus on supporting other community initiatives through the yearly donation of some of the store’s profits to other organizations. The organizations that we choose to support work for building peace and reducing violence.

Why do you support peace work?

We believe that peace work is directly related to making changes in how power is used (negatively for waging war versus constructively used in peaceful ways)and we have a long personal history in helping people in war-torn countries move towards the peaceful expression of power.

Who owns PowerBandits.com and what background do they have in empowerment?

PowerBandits.com is an initiative of Concorde Inc.

Concorde Inc. is a privately owned Canadian company that specializes in negotiation, mediation,Concorde Inc. and dispute resolution system design. Concorde was founded by Dr. Benjamin Hoffman in 1989 and quickly became the leader in Canada in providing facilitation and mediation services in a broad range of disputes in both the private and public sectors. It now also serves clients internationally. Concorde's strength is sound analysis of conflict and creative consensus-building techniques. For ten years the company delivered the Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Program of the Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiation (CIIAN). CIIAN, a nongovernmental organization based in Ottawa, was founded by Ben Hoffman, Canadian Senator Douglas Roche, and others in 1990.

Concorde has extended its vision and technical strengths by focusing on the role of power in human relationships.

The PowerBandits initiative is the direct result of Ben Hoffman's professional and Concorde's corporate experience. Ben's passion for justice, an acute awareness of how power is central to all human endeavour, in both creative achievements and apparently intractable conflicts, inspires our vision.
