Health
Taking control of your health is up to you and nobody else. It’s not an easy thing to do, as consistently making the right choices about food and diet can be an ongoing struggle.
Perhaps you will need to give up old and deeply ingrained patterns and habits such as switching to a vegetarian diet from a meat diet which isn’t always an easy thing to do!
But, getting healthy can be an expensive thing to do when you consider membership costs at the gym, purchasing your own home exercise equipment, or paying for diet plans.
You can begin the process of getting healthier for little or no money by focusing on exercise and diet:
- Have you ever considered collecting your own wild food and medicine from the wild?
- What about growing it in your own front-yard using edible landscaping?
- What about eliminating some red meats and eating a meat-free diet once or twice a week (pound for pound Tofu is far cheaper and healthier than beef)
- Walking is free exercise that is very beneficial
Many people also make the connection between exercise and good mental health as a way of coping with stress and burnout.
There are also free things that you can do to help maintain good mental health:
- Talk about it: most cities have free telephone counseling
- Keep active: walk, jog, fly a kite, skate, snowshoe
- Learn new skills: take painting or guitar lessons
- Keep in touch with friends
- Accept who you are
- Let it go
- Make new friends
- Do something creative
- Eat a Balanced diet
- Get enough sleep
- Get involved with a group: lots of places are always seeking any volunteer help!
- Ask for help: there are many free counseling services available
- Relax: take a nap, a bath, or read a book
